Cantilever Racking System

A cantilever racking system is a unique storage racking system ideal for storing long, bulky or awkward items; such as pipes, timbres, tubes, metal sheets, etc. This racking system is designed to maximise your storage space while giving easy access to your goods no matter where they are stored. In addition, you will also get a clear view of your inventory items easily.

The cantilever racking system is made up of a central column that is attached to a heavy base anchored to the floor. Along the upright columns are holes where the cantilever rack arms are connected to create storage levels.

Cantilever racks come in both single and double-sided configurations, with the only difference being the number of sides available for storage. The entire length of the rack can be used for storage, with the arms being adjustable to accommodate various load lengths and sizes.

All of our metal parts are epoxy powder coated, ensuring a lasting finish. Hot dipped galvanized finishing is available upon request. Other optional accessories such as removable durable stoppers can be provided to ensure safer storage.

Advantages of Cantilever Racking System:

  • Large loading capacities to store long and heavy duty loads
  • Instant and convenient accessibility (with the aid of forklifts) to your loads
  • Faster picking speeds
  • Maintenance of a neat and orderly inventory system
  • Customisable design to fit any of your storage length requirements
  • Open linear storage that eliminates obstruction in front of the rack

Cantilever Racking Column

Upright columns come in varying heights and load capacities. Hence it is important to let us know what items you will be storing and its dimensions. This will allow us to provide the best recommendation for your warehouse items. Depending on your requirements, you can decide how many levels of cantilever arms you require and how high your cantilever column can go.

Do also note that your lifting material handling equipment (e.g. forklift, risk truck, etc) will have to be able to reach the highest level of the cantilever arm for the whole racking system to be usable. If you do not have the proper lifting equipment, we can also customise the height according to your requirements so that it will still be easily accessible.

Cantilever Racking Arms

Cantilever racking arms come in two variations – straight and inclined.

Straight arms are ideal for storing square materials that will not roll, such as lumber, wood, plywood, etc.

Inclined arms are ideal for storing cylinder materials that roll, such as metal and PVC pipes, steel tubes, galvanized pipes, etc.

However, with that said, the straight model is usually preferred as it is easier to load and unload items. The use of safety stoppers at the end can aid in preventing items from rolling off the cantilever arms.

Cantilever Racking Accessories

To increase the stability and safety of the cantilever racks, they can be supplemented with accessories such as the following:

  • Brace sets to hold the column and base together.
  • Locking pins that restrains the arm into the column.
  • Safety caps that can be fitted on the end of the arms to soften the impact and protect personnel.
  • Protective lining such as plastic furnishing to protect the rack against abrasions and collision.
  • Safety stoppers to prevent items from dropping.

2. What is the difference between Structural Cantilever and Roll-Formed Cantilever?

The only difference between structural cantilever and roll-formed cantilever can be summed up as the type of material it is made of. The structural cantilever is made of structural steel. This means it has the potential to store medium to heavy loads.

On the other hand, roll-formed cantilever is made from flat-rolled steel. While both versions of the cantilever racking system are sturdy and long-lasting, this difference in material means that each can bear a different load capacity. Hence, roll-formed cantilever is more appropriate for light- to medium-weight items like plastic pipes.

Ultimately, the version of the cantilever racking system that you select depends primarily on the type of goods in your warehouse. Our team at Aracking & Shelving Solutions will be able to offer recommendations based on the type of inventory you would like to store.

3. Can the cantilever racking arm height be adjusted?
Depending on your requirements, the arms can be placed higher or lower, to have a larger gap or more layers for loading of your goods. Since the arms can be attached at varying heights, this allows a greater flexibility to store a wide range of products irrespective of sizes or dimensions.

4. How much weight can be supported by a Cantilever racking system?
In terms of the weight that the cantilever racking system can support, it ranges from 1,500 kg to 3,000 kg per level uniform distributed load (UDL). It is vital that you inform our team at Aracking & Shelving Solutions about the weight of your items because the UDL load determines how much weight a single beam/arm can handle.

Invest In A Cantilever Racking System Today!

When you invest in a cantilever racking system, you are able to store non-palletized goods and items that tend to be bulkier, longer and more awkwardly shaped like furniture and lumber. With their adjustable dimensions in terms of cantilever racking columns and cantilever racking arm length, it is a great choice for your warehouse.
